About Ben
From the time Ben was a toddler there was not a ball he couldn’t kick, hit, throw or catch with surprising precision. He was always on the move, insisting he play on the neighborhood green with the older kids who he always impressed and sometimes out ran. When Ben began having seizures at age 8, we did everything we could to help him maintain as normal a life as possible with the hope that he would eventually outgrow them.
When Ben’s doctors confirmed his epilepsy would be a life long condition, our hopes were crushed . The future we had envisioned for our active outgoing child suddenly seemed very uncertain. Ben’s seizures cause him to collapse unexpectedly putting him at risk for serious or life threatening injuries. At a time when he should be spreading his wings, spending time with friends and tearing up the Rugby field, he is donning a helmet just to walk around the house, using a wheelchair at school and needing constant adult supervision at school and at home for safety.
An assistance dog that is trained to warn Ben before a seizure, assist with recovering from a seizure, and get help when needed would give Ben the independence and the security to safely live his best life in spite of epilepsy, rather than living in fear of Epilepsy. The anticipation of being placed with such a dog has filled our family with hope once again for Ben’s future. We are in awe of everyone involved with EENP for the amazing work that they do in training, and placing these life changing dogs. To everyone who is able to support Ben's journey towards his best life by contributing to this cause, we extend our eternal gratitude.

About Client Fundraising Donations
You can make a donation directly to EENP to support an assistance dog placement with Ben Mesecar using this donation form. You will receive an email confirmation of your donation sent immediately, but the donation total and your name and comments may take up to an hour to update on the site. Your donation made on this page will offset the placement and training fees that EENP will charge for Ben's placement. We will let Ben and his family know that you made a donation and will keep them updated on the total amount raised, but will not share the amount of individual donations with them.
The placement and training fees that EENP charges for our assistance dog placements cover less than half of the cost to raise, train, and place an assistance dog and then support the placement for the life of the partnership. If donations are received in excess of Ben's placement fees, those donations will go toward EENP's general operations, supporting the full cost of our placements with Ben and other clients.
Eyes Ears Nose and Paws is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization, and donations to EENP are generally tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. However, please note that donations made in support of a placement for a particular individual are generally NOT tax-deductible, per IRS guidance (see IRS Publication 526, page 6, column 2, "Contributions to Individuals", second bullet). If tax deductibility is important to you, please speak with your tax professional before donating to be sure that your donation is made in a way that meets your tax requirements.
