About Addi

Addi is 7 years old, and is diagnosed with epilepsy caused by a genetic mutation. Her seizures started in November of 2016 and have been fairly controlled by medications until recently. Her most recent neurologist appointment showed significant seizure charges during an overnight EEG, and Addi has had several convulsive seizures and up to 30 focal seizures within an hour. Many of her recent seizures are occurring during her sleep (while others are asleep as well) which is raising concern for her safety.

On September 18, 2019 after a LONG night and day of almost continuous seizure activity, Addi's neurologist suggested that Addi is a "perfect candidate" for an epileptic service dog, and that she was putting an eligibility form in the mail. This was something that Addi's parents had always considered, but never really knew where to start. Hearing those word of support from Addi's doctor gave a sense of hope and determination to George and Beth.

Beth spent the next 24 hours researching dogs, trainers, etc. She quickly learned that this was going to take a lot of God and a lot of family and friends.

Addi's parents have never wanted her epilepsy to be seen as a disability or to limit her quality of life. This service dog can allow Addi to live a full life- a life where she can play sports, go swimming, have sleepovers with friends, etc. with no fear. This dog can be her shadow and keep her safe.

We will be creating a facebook page as well to keep everyone updated on Addi's journey. Thank you so much for supporting Addi and the Lewis family.

About Client Fundraising Donations

You can make a donation directly to EENP to support an assistance dog placement with Addilyn Lewis  using this donation form. You will receive an email confirmation of your donation sent immediately, but the donation total and your name and comments may take up to an hour to update on the site. Your donation made on this page will offset the placement and training fees that EENP will charge for Addi's placement. We will let Addi and her family know that you made a donation and will keep them updated on the total amount raised, but will not share the amount of individual donations with them.

The placement and training fees that EENP charges for our assistance dog placements cover less than half of the cost to raise, train, and place an assistance dog and then support the placement for the life of the partnership. If donations are received in excess of Addi's placement fees, those donations will go toward EENP's general operations, supporting the full cost of our placements with Addi and other clients.

Eyes Ears Nose and Paws is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization, and donations to EENP are generally tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. However, please note that donations made in support of a placement for a particular individual are generally NOT tax-deductible, per IRS guidance (see IRS Publication 526, page 6, column 2, "Contributions to Individuals", second bullet). If tax deductibility is important to you, please speak with your tax professional before donating to be sure that your donation is made in a way that meets your tax requirements.
