About Ron and Duncan
Over the last seven-plus years, I’ve been lucky enough to have Duncan the Service Dog along my side, acting as my superhero, but sporting a vest instead of a cape. As a Type 1 Diabetic for over 34 years now, Duncan serves as my Diabetic Alert Dog and alerts me several times a day to my blood sugar rising and falling when I am unable to feel it.
Duncan is also a lifesaver. Literally. As you can see in the video, Duncan is able to grab juice from the fridge, get help, and various other tasks to help when necessary.
Unfortunately, the time has come for Duncan to hang up his vest, retire from service work, and become a stay-at-home dog, doing all the things the normal dogs do. Duncan’s retirement is set for the middle of October.
How can you help? This fundraiser is to help offset the cost of a successor dog that will fill the big paws Duncan has left. Every little bit helps.
