We release fewer than 10 dogs each year, which means the wait for a career change dog can be significant. We don't have a good estimate for how long the wait list is because we match dogs with homes on our waiting list based on fit rather than position on the waiting list.

Our career change waiting list is best suited for homes that are willing to wait for the perfect dog. We don't mind if you join the list just in case the perfect dog becomes available immediately, but we want you to know that it isn't likely.

You are welcome to contact us at any time to find out the status of your application. We encourage you to update your contact or household information if it should change. If you decide to adopt elsewhere and no longer want to be on our waiting list, we appreciate knowing that as well.

Each pet dog placement is priced individually. The price is based on a number of factors including how much training the dog has received and the reason for release.

In most cases, the fee ranges from $500 to $2,500. There is no cost to be on our waiting list, and you can always turn down a placement when one is offered to you.

All dogs released from training will be spayed or neutered and will be up to date on their vaccinations. A full copy of health records will be provided. The reason for release will be clearly communicated and will also be specified in the adoption contract.

A career change dog is not an assistance dog and by signing the adoption contract you will affirm that you do not intend to use your career change dog as an assistance dog in public settings.
